Governor Janet Mills’ announcement today that she will be voting no on Question 3—the Pine Tree Power proposal—reflects the views of voters across the state.
“What we heard from Governor Mills today is exactly what we’ve heard over and over from people across the state. The Pine Tree Power proposal would put us billions of dollars in debt, it would put unexperienced politicians in charge of the electric grid and would lead to years or even decades of court battles,” said Willy Ritch, executive director of the Maine Affordable Energy Coalition. “She’s voting against Question 3 for exactly the same reasons so many Mainers think it’s a bad idea—it’s too expensive, it’s too political and would end up in court for years.”
